Queensland's much-anticipated strawberry season is underway with leading producer Piñata Farms picking its first fruit for the year at its Wamuran farm in south-east Queensland.
Fourth generation producer, Rebecca Scurr (pictured), whose family has been growing premium strawberries since 2000, was on hand during the first harvest.
With the first punnets already hitting the stores, harvesting will increase daily until peak production between August and September. Then, Piñata's Stanthorpe farm in the Granite Belt region of southern Queensland will start supplying strawberries for the warmer months for the first time.
For strawberry lovers, the news is all sweet as Piñata will soon be producing strawberries year `round. Piñata strawberries are available at leading supermarkets.
